I wonder what the poor people did yesterday?

Yesterday, after the chopper flight, I did the escarpment walk, and the trek into Gregory's tree (engraved by Gregory the explorer in 1856.

from there I headed to Lake Argyle for the night. After the record wet season and record capacity levels in the Kimberley Spillway Creek was amazing............I have never seen much more than a trickle coming down this creek.

The Carr-Boyde Ranges in the area are spectacular and the sunsets and sunrises make it even better. I hope not too many more people find out about this place as it really is a hidden wonder.

I have stopped to update the blog and stock up with supplies here in Kununurra, it is currently 33c he he..... I got sunburnt yesterday............

And to the impatient mexican (you know who you are ...keith) I have moderator enabled on the comments, meaning they are not published until I have seen them.

Anyway I must head off as El Questro awaits on the Gibb River Road. I will be staying a couple of nights at El Questro and at least one at Home Valley Station. 

No internet access out there so I doubt if i will be blogging again for a few days but should have some fantastic pictures for the next one.

I was told by the lady in the Visitors Centre the Pentecost Crossing is about half a metre deep at the moment. I hope the Hilux doesn't let me down as there is salties there too

Hot and Sweaty

Hello all

I have arrived safely at Timber Creek for lunch. I had a long day yesterday driving from Darwin to Victoria River Crossing. I took the 'keeping up with the Jones' chopper flight this morning, absolutely awesome, I gotta get myself one of those.

On my way

Well folks, finished work, for a couple of weeks anyway.

Finished packing, I think. Thongs, check, shorts, sunnies, laptop, check, camera, sunscreen, huge drum of industrial strength insect repellent, check, sense of adventure and pepper spray, check.
It will soon be time for the cabin crew to arm doors and crosscheck, 
The forecast for today in Darwin is 32c after a chilly 21c night......woohoo
ooroo winter ....hellloooo summer 
Heading off now will check back in another 25c :-)

arrived safely in Darwin, when i got up this morning it was 2.3c
I arrived in Darwin to 32c and 66% humidity. My body is in shock
Tonight I am staying at Palm City Resort on the Esplanade in the CBD. www.palmscityresort.com 
I pick up the camper at 9.00am in the morning, hit the supermarket then head south towards Katherine.
It might be a day or so before I get something interesting to post, until then stay warm, I will :-)

The vehicle this time will be a Hilux Camper 4 x4. It comes equipped with Engel fridge and dual batteries, so doesn't limit me to powered caravan park sites.

We plan to use the same type of rig next year 2012, when we travel deep into the Kimberley, to Mitchell Plateau, the complete Gibb River Road and Broome, so this will be a good test for next year.

My 2011 trip begins July 16th with an afternoon flight to Darwin escaping another horrible Melbourne Winter.
